Take ACTION to Create Success!

Action is the important missing link for many.  People from all walks of life state they "want" things in their business and personal lives, however, many do not go past the "dreaming" stage and actually take ACTION on what they "say" they want.

Why is this?  I have found very often this is due to fear and limiting beliefs.  Fear about stepping out of your comfort zone, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of doing something you haven't done before, fear of not being perfect, fear of what others think.  Limiting beliefs on what you are capable of, limiting beliefs that someone else has better ideas, or could do "it" better than you, limiting beliefs that you have to have "something"...a certain background, a certain education, a certain level of income, a certain "class" of people, etc.  The lists go on and on. The important thing to recognize is that none of this matters in creating success. These are the things that hold one back, but if you are wiling to confront these things, they disappear and you start achieving things you had never dreamed possible for yourself.

I saw an acronym for the word ACT that is very true:

Action

Changes

Things

So simple, but so often overlooked.  As with any powerful principle we learn, taking action despite the fears and the limiting beliefs applies to our personal lives and our business lives.  We can't change things without ACTION.

Think back to when you were starting to ride a bike.  You were probably excited but afraid you would fall.  You probably did fall.   But most of us got back up and kept at it until.  Until we didn't fall anymore, until we were not afraid, until we were having fun, and enjoying every minute of it.

Think back to when you were starting to date.  You may have been afraid to ask a person out for these fears and limiting beliefs.  If you are in a relationship, you have obviously gotten over that limitation.

Think back to when you learned to drive.  Were you afraid to get behind the wheel?  Did you know everything there is to know about driving?  Did you have experience?  Yet today, most would probably consider themselves to be competent drivers.

Think back to your first job.  Were you nervous about starting?  Were you afraid to be the "new" employee?  Were you thinking you would make mistakes and worried about losing your job?  Most of us have been there, yet we pushed through that and become valued employees.

If you are a successful entrepreneur, think back to the time when you were making the decision to start your business.  Were you afraid you would fail?  Were you afraid you would lose your investment?  Were you afraid you wouldn't know what to do?  Were you afraid you would make mistakes?  You have obviously pushed through all of that to create the success you have today.

Pushing through fears and limiting beliefs is simply part of the process that every single person that creates success in any aspect of life has gone through. Success in not created by avoiding these things...it is part of the process......everyone experiences these same emotions and doubts.  The key to understand is that successful people feel this too, but simply make a CHOICE to push through it and take action anyway.

You prove to yourself that you are capable of pushing through fears and limiting beliefs when your desire is strong enough.  Taking ACTION is the key to eliminating fears and limiting beliefs.  When we take action, we learn and grow, we gain new  distinctions and strengths that are stepping stones to new and bigger things.

It is through stepping along these stepping stones that we start to live into our own greatness.  Everyone has greatness within them, but not everyone allows that greatness to be revealed.  We have human potential for a reason....to live into it. To do any less is a waste of the gifts we have all been given.

Hi Debbie,
I agree that we all have fears and limiting beliefs that hinder us. I wonder what you mean by 'pushing through' fear. I've been taught to turn towards my fears and acknowledge them as a part of me. In a sense to recognize that they are as much a part of me as my other emotions and my other gifts. I think we want avoid putting ourselves in the situation of 'should's and shouldn't's...I should feel this way, I shouldn't feel that way.

I don't think the goal is to "eliminate" fear. Fear is an important emotion. It's just that we don't want to let our fears control us.

Hi Pete,

When I say ""pushing through fears", I mean exactly what you pointed out....don't let our fears control us. We can act despite our fears.
