How To Live In Happiness

There is so much written about happiness. It's something that people strive for their entire lives. How often have you heard someone (or yourself) say "I'll be happy when _____". Many times, people go through their entire lives, waiting for this or that to be happy. Happiness is within. It is our job to discover what truly makes us happy and start living our lives immersed in that. This is how you feel a sense of control within your life, and stop requiring something or someone to "make" you happy. When you get to this state of mind, you are happy for no specific reason. You are happy during stressful times, sad times, challenging times. You are happy because you are living a self directed, on purpose life.

This starts with awareness. The awareness that you are not living your life on purpose, and that you are making a bold decision to start to. It requires making different choices, different decisions than you have been accustomed to up to this point. You cannot expect to get a different or better result by doing the same things, making the same decisions and choices. You have to be willing to step out of the box of conformity and comfort and be willing to think and do things differently. Your choices should be guided by what you want, not what has always been. What specific steps can YOU take?

- Don't conform - So often people are frustrated because they are conforming to someone else's agenda. This could be work, relationships, what you do in your downtime, etc. This is your life, you are the only one that knows what you truly want. Stop conforming to other's ideas of what is "normal" or "expected".

- Surround yourself with like minded people - There is nothing more frustrating than spending time with people we don't resonate with. Regardless of whether it is at work, or in our personal lives, no one wants to spend time with people they don't resonate with. When you are in the the company of these type of individuals, you find yourself feeling frustrated, angry, stressed out, and often cannot put your finger on why you feel this way. Employees watching the clock and can't wait to go home. It may not be the work, but the people you are working with. You work 8 hrs minimum per day. Take a a stand, and go out and find work that fulfills you, and surround yourself with people that you do enjoy being with.

-Don't live at the effect - People believe they are at the effect of their boss, their partner, the weather, lack of education, lack of money, their family, etc.... Being at the effect of any of these things is simply resisting the fact that you have choice in your life. Everyone has choice, it is up to us to use our choice and not to be a victim of being at the effect of anything. If something is not feeling right, make a different choice. Learn to be at cause in your life.

-Be grateful every day for the abundance in your life - Too often people look at all the things they don't have, or, haven't achieved, instead of being grateful for all the little things every single day. We attract more of what we think about. Make gratitude a part of your everyday life.

-Don't settle - There is a difference in being grateful for what you do have, and striving to create something even better. You have a job....yes be grateful, however, don't let fear stop you from raising the bar and going after the type of work you really want to be doing, or the level of income you really want to be earning, or the type of relationships you want to have in your life.

-Make choices on purpose - People often say they want something, but do not make choices or decisions that will lead them towards what they want. It is vital to make purposeful choices that support what you truly want in your life. Don't let YOU down. Be accountable to yourself, and DO what you say you will.

-Listen to what your heart is telling you - It's one of the most powerful principles I can share with you. When we are not listening to our hearts, we are ignoring the most powerful tools we have - our intuition. Our intuition speaks to us through our hearts....our job is to respect and listen to that inner voice which is there to guide us. Once you tap into this, you will find such a "knowing" of what is right for you, and when you start following this, you start living the life you always wanted. You will find yourself just being happy for no specific reason.

And most importantly get fully authentic with yourself. Stop sugar coating things and be honest with yourself. Admit to yourself what isn't working and make a commitment to yourself to make choices that will take you in the direction you want to go. When you start living life with full authenticity to yourself, and being accountable to yourself to do what it takes to create the life you want to be living, you discover the fulfillment and happiness that was always within you....you just have to learn to listen to your heart and make decisions that support it.
